Brutal killing: The home the couple shared
A “sadistic” husband drove an electric drill into his wife’s brain and stabbed her eye with a screwdriver before stuffing her body in a cupboard, a court heard.
“Controlling, possessive and jealous” Tahi Harroba Manaa inflicted 270 injuries on Sara Al Shourefi, 28, while their four children, aged two to eight, were in the house in Sheffield, a jury was told.
She was also allegedly attacked with metal bars and a knife in the 105 minuteassault by her husband.
Nicholas Campbell QC, prosecuting, said Manaa called nephew Ahmad Jabber to the house telling him “I have killed my wife” before asking him to help drag the body upstairs to a cupboard.
The prosecutor said: “She had been hit over the head repeatedly with a variety of weapons.”
Post mortem results showed the mother died from blood loss, brain injuries and inhaling blood.
The court heard the couple have four children aged eight, six, four and two and were “stateless” refugees having fled Kuwait for the UK in 2010.
Manaa, 37, admits manslaughter but denies murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The trial at Sheffield crown court continues.
