The younger and only sister of former Nigeria’s president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Madam Adunni Oluniola Eweje is dead. She was aged 76 years.
The former president broke the news to a delegation of women under the umbrella of South-West Women Leaders, who paid him a courtesy call on Sunday, in Abeokuta.
Obasanjo who had just returned from a foreign trip early Sunday morning, told the visitors that the scheduled visit would not have hold, if he had a premonition that his sister would be called to glory.
“This scheduled visit would not have been, if only I realise that my sister would be called. But, the appointment has been scheduled.”
Nigerian Tribune learnt that since the deceased died last Tuesday, at a private hospital following a brief illness, scores of symphatisers had been visiting the bereaved over the death of his beloved sister.
The women leaders drawn from communities, religious and market sections across the region led by the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
Burial arrangement for the deceased, it was gathered, would be announced later by the family.
