FRSC SET TO ESTABLISH UNIT COMMAND AT ITAWURE IN EKITI


Ekiti State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Engr. Rindom Kumven has stated that plans are underway to establish a unit command at Itawure in Efon-Alaaye Local Government Area to
enforce traffic rules and regulations as well as safeguard the lives of motorists plying the busy Lagos-Abuja route.

Engr. Kumven who made this known during a courtesy visit to the Head of Service, Mr. Olubunmi Famosaya in his office in Ado Ekiti, called for government’s assistance in making the effort a reality.

Advising drivers to always be cautious and obey driving rules and regulations, he assured that the corps would strictly comply with the September 30 deadline of renewing drivers’ license and acquiring the
new number plates, stressing that vehicle owners that failed to comply with the deadline shall be prosecuted and have their vehicles impounded.

Engr. Kumven lauded the giant strides of Governor Fayemi in infrastructural development and promised that his command would continue to contribute its quota to the development of the state.

Responding the Head of Service, Mr. Olubunmi Famosaya lamented the poor state of Federal roads in Ekiti State, stressing the urgent need to rehabilitate them.

He said that the Federal Government should set up a special mobile court to try erring drivers, adding that adequate arrangement must also be made for its officers posted to the state.
