Samodun Fiesta Will Promote Oyo cultural heritage - Tourism Commissioner

 The celebration of  maiden  edition of Samodun  Festival which is scheduled to start on  Jan 24 has been described as   a platform to present, promote, preserve  and restore  Oyo  state tourism and cultural heritage as well as showcasing Oyo artistry and creative  essence  as the pace setter state.
 The state commissioner for culture and Tourism, Princess Adetutu Akhigbe Adeyemi made this known while addressing the press recently at a press briefing held at the Ministry of Information in the state.
 According to her the 3 days programm will also be a forum for social interaction between the government and the people irrespective of political affiliation and at the same time showcase Oyo state values and potentials to the outside world
She said further that the programme is also    expected to create a platform to generate revenue by local government councils, state and private businesses through culture and tourism and at the same time promote the culture of relaxation and entertainment amongst the people of the state thereby reducing the incidence of avoidable diseases and as a result increases the quality of life and life expectancy of the people.
  Highlight of the three day event include which commences on 24 of January includes Ajumorin walk  for the environment   to be led  by the Oyo state government and other executive members of the cabinet,, Logo dance and  motorcade parade by the 33 local government area of the state, launching of the  film/ Raffle draw and official  opening ceremony at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium   Ibadan.
 On the second day which is Friday 25th January there will be cultural dance and  Oge Oyo beauty pageant  which is powered by the office of the first Lady, Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi while the grand finally which holds on  26th  at Obafemi Awolowo stadium will features  Raffle draw, fuji fiesta tagged  ”Ta Ohun” and presentation of gift to winners of the raffle draw
 Princess Adetutu however commended Sen Abiola Ajimobi for encouraging and promoting the   rich cultural heritage  and tourism potential of the state. Adding that creation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism 
Also Mr. Wale Williams, of Franchise Enterprise Concern  said  “The three-day event have been packaged to achieve three main objectives viz , raising the cultural – tourism awareness in the mind of the people by luring them to embrace culture for society betterment; opening the consciences of the people at seeing the powerful economic import of cultural – tourism event which mobilises fund and wealth and bringing governance to the common people through social interaction.
