Aregbesola takes Igi Iye gospel to Students in Iwo

In further demonstration of his  passion to champion the  fight against  environmental hazard and climate change in Nigeria,the governor of the state of Osun Ogbeni Aregbesola has taken the  the Igi Iye  tree planting project to  over 750,000 primary and post secondary school  students in the state.

 Speaking at the last phase of the distribution of Igi  Iye to the students at Iwo City Hall on Thursday  the governor of the state of Osun Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola  disclosed that  the idea of involving the student is to encourage them in supporting the government in environmental protection and  fight against climate change

According to him ""Our efforts at ensuring the fortification of the environment by planting trees and other schemes will end up in futility if our youths who are the custodians of the future are not only involved but saddled with all the mechanism of trans -generation of the idea.The Yoruba adage says 'oro ti a ko ba fi omode mo , kiku lo nku .Igi Iye is about the present but of more importance , is about the future and we will be deceiving ourselves if we refused to partner with the students , our youths who owe the future . They are the pivot of our endeavours in the process of development and we cannot relegate them to the background"

 Similarly, the Special Adviser to the  governor of Environment, Hon Bola Ilori earlier in his speech, lauded the  school children in Osun for passion with which they show interest in the  IgI Iye tree planting scheme “  the student really impressed  Mr. governor and the entire cabinet  with the way they accept  and  support the project , and that is a  confirmation that children and elders in Osun  belief in Ogbeni Aregbesola’s administration.
 Adding that, “Igi Iye project to the glory of God is a success and we will not relent in our commitment to ensure environmental sanitation and prevention of disasters in the state of Osun.
The principal of Iwo Grammar Prince Lateef Ajagbe in his welcome address said Igi Iye tree planting project is a huge effort of the government o reclaim and save our habitat and the environment together   with the eco system at large.
 He  also  lamented the negligence of environment  development  by the past administration and  lauded Ogbeni Aregbesola for the project  saying  “ here  is a  state helmsman who has been very  passionate  and physical about the physical, mental and environmental well-being of the people and how the decadence of   decades neglects and  nonchalant so entrenched in the society be curbed and good old days reverted”.
 Also the school  Headboy of  Iwo Grammar School Aminu Jamiu in his address said “  we the children are aware  and involved in the knowledge gathering  and sharing of the issue of tree planting can be agent of change adding that  their involvement validate the rationale of allowing their voices to be heard in the advocacy and policy
 While affirming the readiness of  the students in full participation in the tree planting project, Jamiu  also express appreciation   to the  governor for  yearning to their request. “ we thank our father Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola who has  not failed  to listen and act urgently by involving us in the fight against the climate change so that we will not bear the brunt of consequences of environment disaster
