Ibadan Poly students protest over poor water, electricity supply



Students of The Polytechnic Ibadan oyo state locked all entrances of the institution in protest for    poor supply of water, electricity and other basic amenities for the hostels

 As early as  7am on Monday  the students  workers of the institute who stay of campus were denied access into the  school premises while various inscription were written on the placards that was raised by this students

Most of the students  who stay off campus  returned home while others who have one or two assignment in school waited for about four hours which the protest last

The Sango Police state DPO Mrs Funmilayo  Akinfenwa also led  team of policemen to the scene to foreshore breakdown of law other

 Some of the students who speak with Alarinka Agbaye   under the condition of anonymity explained that student that resides in the hostel do not enjoy basic amenities like water and electricity adding that some of the room are overcrowded

 He said further that “ we paid huge amount of money for  hostel which is too much in the first instance  but the most annoying part of it is lack of water and electricity,  though we are aware of the epilepsy nature of  PHCH but the generator that was  also meant to be serving as  alternative has stopped working for days now, we have approached the management and it’s not yielding  so we decided to  disturb  activities  in the campus for a while  to register our grievances and let the government  know what we are passing through”

 All effort to get the management side of the story as at the time of filling this report as the school PRO did not respond to a call through to him on his airtel line. But a close source informed that the management is looking into the matter and will find a lasting solution to the problem soon.
