Politicians are responsible for food Insecurity- ALFAAN

Cassava

Political farmers who are operating between the government and real farmers have been indicted as the major factor that hindering food production  and security in the Nigeria.

This was contained in a  press statement  issued by  concerned members of the All Farmers  Apex Association of Nigeria (ALFAAN),  signed by the coordinator Chief Ibraheem Aderibigbe in Ibadan in which they also called on  stakeholders in the sectors to  identified the genuine  farmers and deal directly with them rather than   sending proceeds through the political agent of governs who disguise  as farmers.

According to  the group “ it is worrisome that  government effort  at improving agricultural  sector in the  country are being thwarted by the activities of this political farmer s who are only feeding fat on  what should go directly to the farmers” adding that  “ this has been on for a very long time and we want the government to stop relating  with the  political farmers but have a direct contact with the association  through their leaders

The  maintained that:“ if the  government  at all level can encourage the activities of farmers through  enhancement schemes that is directly available  to the farmers through the  association in their  different locations  there will be increase in food production and  we will rely less on  importation  of food or  endangering  the lives of our traders  who travelled  long distance in search of what we can produce  in our land  which is fertile “.
Speaking about the situation in Oyo State, the group informed that some politician who were given undue recognition by the previous administration are laying  claims on the leadership of the association  thereby cornering what should  be benefit of the  farmers, we  are using this medium sensitize the public and government to disregard any other executives apart from the one led by  Apostle Emmanuel Elegbede led"

The group stress further that: “The Apostle Emmanuel  Elegbede from Iseyin local government is the recognized and authentic leader of the association  and election will be hold by the end of this month.
"We are  aware that some people are parading themselves as the leaders of this association  but we don’t recognized them  how can  some people who don’t have farm be leaders of  farmers association, it is impossible  the authentic chairman of the association is  Apostle  Emmanuel Elegbede and  fresh election will hold  by the end of this month”.

They however called on people to disregard “political farmers” and urged the impostors to stop their actions in the best interest of the entire Nigerian.
While condoling with Bodija market traders over the gruesome killing of their members  by Boko Haram sect  in  Mugono Borno state last week describing it as an ugly trend which need to be urgently tackled  by  the Federal Government.
