1,000 clerics leading me to Govt House —Fayose •As he takes oath of office today Sam Nwaoko - Ado-Ekiti THE incoming governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, has said he would not enter the state Government House until 1,000 clerics he had assigned for the purpose exorcised the place after his inauguration today. Fayose had announced on Tuesday evening that no fewer than 1,000 Christian and Islamic clerics were expected to perform the spiritual cleansing of the newly-constructed Government Lodge at Oke Ayoba, which was officially opened on Sunday by Professor Wole Soyinka and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal. “I am inviting all our men of God to lead us to Oke Ayoba Government House on Thursday (today) to do the spiritual cleansing of the place. They (clerics) would be in front, we shall follow them. Our men of God would use the power of prayer to conquer whatever evil that is there,” he said. Fayose said the clerics were welcome from all the 16 local government areas of the state. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, venue of the inauguration ceremony, just as the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Taiwo Lakanu, said adequate security had been provided in all parts of the state. Lakanu, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti and signed on his behalf by Mr Victor Babayemi, said “the police personnel have been mandated to embark on thorough stop and search of persons and vehicles, to prevent troublemakers from infiltrating venues.” He added that the police had “deployed bomb disposal units, counter-terrorism units, Police Mobile Force and Swift Response Force, including conventional and plain cloth detectives, at strategic positions, to ensure an eventful and crisis free ceremony.”
