Mimiko congratulates Nigeria on Super Eagles victory

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State yesterday sent congratulatory messages to President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerians, the Super Eagles and the Nigerian Coach, Stephen Keshi on the 2013 African Cup of Nations victory in South Africa.

Mimiko in a statement said: "I join millions of Nigerians in congratulating the Super Eagles, the technical crew, the President and indeed Nigerians on this well-deserved victory and see it as one reason for Nigerians to be hopeful about the fortunes of the country."

He said "the trajectory of Super Eagles' to victory in a way shows the possibilities for us a Nation if we work together and lift our country up.
"From outright cynicism, indifference and then to believe, Nigerians changed emotions about the team and lifted it up to its eventual victory.
"The team on the other hand moved from an ordinary first match and marched on with determination, beat the favourites along the way before edging out a determined Burkinabe team.
"These show that even with our challenges in perspective, we can look at the country and give it the needed fillip to come out stronger and better," Mimiko said.
Mimiko said he was particularly delighted that Sunshine Star's Oboabona did excellently well in the tournament and did not let the Nigerian league down.
