Guild of Tourism Journalists in Nigeria condemns NTDC  Boss replacement

The Guild of Tourism Journalists in Nigeria has condemned the purported replacement of Otunba Olusegun Runsewe as the Director - General , Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation, (NTDC ) based on the excuse that "his tenure" has elapsed .

In a release signed by the President of the association Wale Ojo - lanre the association said
" This excuse is wicked , conspiratorial and a fabrication to destroy the steady progress being made by the DG in the tourism sector because , he has one year and eight months more in the service "

The association pointed out that " We may recollect that Otunba Runsewe of NTDC , Prof Tunde Babawale of CEBAC , Munzali Dantata of NIHOUTOUR had their tenure renewed two years and four months ago . We are thus perplexed why he alone was singled out and roped with the excuse that his tenure expired.

The association pointed out " Out of the over 110 parastatals under the Ministry , the most visible and functional one is the NTDC . out of all the DGs , the most proactive one is Otunba Runsewe .why should it be the best of our DG is being for removal "

The Guild of Tourism journalists pointed out that the announcement has caused international embarrassment to Nigeria at the 20th Arabian Travel Market held in Dubai where the DG had just made an in - road into the Dubai Tourism Development Corporation with a promise of assisting Nigeria in its desire to shore up its tourism potentialities .

" whoever made that announcement had done a grave injury into the image of Nigeria at the 20th Arabian Travel Market where Otunba Runsewe had just facilitated multi - billion naira investment network for Nigeria . This is shocking . It does not portrayed us well "

The association has threatened to go to court if the decision is not reversed
' we as an association covering this beat will have no choice but to seek legal redress as we cannot allow our representative to just mess up out nation. "
