Kano’s most revered emir, Alhaji Dr Ado Bayero, yesterday returned to Kano from abroad where he had gone for medical attention. Emir Bayero, 83, arrived in the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, at exactly 4pm aboard a presidential jet.
He was received at the airport by the state government delegation, his friends, businessmen, royals and thousands of his subjects who joined his convoy from the airport to his palace.
The senior special assistant to the Kano State governor on chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Tijjani Mailafiya Sanka, told journalists at the Emir’s health condition had improved. The state government, he said, takes care of its emirs’ health at home and abroad. “Emir Bayero returned to Kano hale and hearty,” he said.
Several people interviewed expressed joy over the return of the Emir. Malam Idris Musa said he was happy to see Emir Bayero return to Kano alive and in good health condition. Malama Maryam, a civil servant, informed that the spiritual leader of Kano should not die now because the country needs him now more than ever.
Among those at the airport to welcome the Emir were Kano-based billionaires Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata and Alhaji Isyaku Rabiu, Emir of Ringim Alhaji Sayyadi Mahmoud Ringim, and Emir of Daura Alhaji Dr Farouk Umar Farouk.
