This wicked domestic soul beheaded his magistrate boss !

This wicked domestic soul beheaded his magistrate boss !

Abeokuta, capital of Ogun state in western Nigeria has witnessed yet another horror: the beheading of a 65- year old retired magistrate, Mrs Olufunmilayo Timeyin by her domestic aide, simply identified as David.

The tragedy happened at the Laderin Housing Estate, Kobape Road, barely 48 hours after an insane police corporal killed seven people and subsequently committed suicide in the same Abeokuta.
A witness told journalists at the scene of the incident that it happened at about 4:00. p.m. in the deceased’s house.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Timeyin, who retired as a senior magistrate in the Ogun state judiciary, employed the domestic aide about two months ago.

David who hails from Benue, was said to have been sacked and arrested by the police after he allegedly stole jewellery, mobile phones and some electronic gadgets, from his boss.

He however, returned to the house Friday afternoon shortly after regaining freedom from police custody and jumped the fence.
He was alleged to have deactivated the security alarm system in the house and lurked in one corner, while an unsuspecting Timeyin returned from an outing.

The witness said Timeyin packed her blue Toyota Camry car– marked Lagos KIA 141 BU– outside the house, apparently planning to go out again.

The source said that the domestic aide attacked Timeyin with a machete immediately she opened her gate.
Timeyin’s son, identified as Olumide, who arrived the house with his mother, raised an alarm that a thief was inside his mother’s house.

But, by the time neighbours came round, the retired magistrate had been beheaded and his assailant and househelp had escaped into the bush.

The suspect was, however, arrested by residents of the area and handed over to the police.

The Chief Judge of Ogun state, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftain Affairs, Chief Muyiwa Oladipo, were part of important dignitaries who had visited the home of the deceased as at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Though the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, could not be reached for comments, policemen from Kemta division of Abeokuta were at the scene as the body was being moved to the morgue at about

See what Oba Dapo Tejuosho Osile OKe Ona did to Yoruba History

Role of Oranmiyan in annals of Yoruba

Title: Oranmiyan: What is in a name? Osile Oke – Ona, Egba’s Involvement. Author: Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso Number of Pages: 212 Publisher: Pumark Nigeria limited Reviewer: Qasim Olalere Akinreti
In Yoruba mythology, a name is given to symbolise circumstances of birth in a home, posterity, sense of character and projection into the future. In Oranmiyan: What is in a name? Osile Oke- Ona, Egba’s Involvement, written by Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso, the word Oranmiyan and Oranyan are used interchangeably to underscore the intonation of the Yoruba dialect of undiluted Oyo and other forms of Yoruba language. It also reinforces the connection of both Oyo and Ile-Ife to the story line. The 212 page book is divided into two main chapters, which trace the origin of the Yorubas and Egba. Appendix takes major segments of the book providing basis for the authenticity of the Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, the Osile Oke Ona’s storyline. Pointedly too, it acts as the major plank of the title of the book. The chapters are sub-divided into the following headings: Brief history of Oke – Ona Egba, Mythological Kings, Queen of Sheba, A Lesson for Yoruba Leaders from Yoruba history. Others are Oranmiyan Movement, Traditional Heritage, A Lesson from Japanese History, Nigerian Women Award, Biography of Chief Mrs Bisoye Tejuoso, A Brief Citation of Oba Dr Adedapo Tejuoso, and Photo Panorama. The heights of the book are locked in the sub-headings on, Oranmiyan: Ile Ife Involvement, Oranmiyan: Oyo’s Involvement, Oranmiyan Oko’s Oke Ona Egba’s Involvement. The last part of the content are extracts from a book “Omoluwabi, And the King Praise God” and lastly, “Kings’ Day of Praise”. The book will go down in history as a compendium linking tradition and modernity to underscore the mythology surrounding the status of Oranmiyan in Yorubaland. Oranmiyan was the progenitor of the Oko, present day Oke Ona Egba.He reigned in Oko and moved the seat of government of Yorubaland there for a while, pages 37 and 179. The obelisk monument in Ile Ife had resemblance with the Washington monument obelisk. That the Alafin of Oyo, Alake of Egba and Owa Obokun of Ijesaland and other major Obas in Yorubaland cannot properly be installed until the sword of state was brought from Ile Ife, page 50. 1903 landmark event on the clarification of 22 great obas wearing of beaded crown in Yorubaland finally put in perspective the authority of the Ooni of Ife , as the undisputed leader of Yoruba obas as well as the pre-eminence role of Ile Ife as the spiritual head of Yoruba nation, page 71- 78 makes an interesting read. The Yorubas link to the Middle East, precisely Egypt was noted by two distinct features, the writings on scroll in the holy bible in reference to the Egyptian writings of hieroglyphics page as well as “Ife Marble” sculptures and those seen in the Egyptian court of the British museum, page7, 8 and 46. It is noteworthy that this historical publication equally substantiated Oranmiyan as a king in Ile Ife, Oko in Egbaland, Oyo Ile, and Oyo Ajaka, with influence on the entire Oyo Empire in the days of yore. These claims support Reverend Johnson’s record on Yoruba history, pages 14 and 179. Page 56 to 66 is an expose of the founders of Yoruba nations from Oduduwa, to Oranmiyan, the remarkable roles of Moremi; the two sons of Orayan, Ajaka and Sango were exhaustively highlighted. Going by the analysis of the book, the Egba roots were traced to 5th August 1830, when warriors and their families settled in Abeokuta under the Olumo rock. A lesson for Yoruba leaders from historical perspective is quite instructive for new crop of leaders, who must eschew bitterness and be united for the common good of the people, page 86 to 88. The story of Oranmiyan movement revived by the Rauf Aregbesola, the present Governor of Osun state brought into the fore the achievement and focus of king Oranmiyan in Yoruba history . This consummate in the six point agenda of the Oranmiyan group namely, banish hunger, poverty, unemployment, promote functional education, restoring healthy living and enhance communal peace and progress. The absolute love and commitment to a race by good leadership are great lessons the Yoruba land could learn from Japan, who had almost the same attributes with the Yoruba nation. With Yoruba people level of education and civilisation in all spheres, the author believes, his beloved race can make it. For his passionate love for her late mother, an industrialist par excellence, Oba Dr Adedapo Tejuoso, the Osile Oke Ona Of Egba, devoted a chapter to eulogise her mother, the Iyalode of Egbaland, late Mrs. Bisoye Tejuoso, the first woman industrialist in Nigeria, “…. an enterprising woman, wealthy in her modest form, respectable and living a comfortable life…”. If one had listen to the lyrics of evergreen songs of legendary Chief Dr Ebenezer Obey in the 70’s, the apt description and contributions of madam Tejuoso would be well appreciated on pages 102- 109. To further justify the title of the book, the celebration of Oranmiyan festival brought into fore the cherished cultural heritage of an average Yorubas. Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade’s goodwill message on the celebration of Oranmiyan festival contextualised this essence “….. no one can celebrate Oranmiyan without reference and obeisance to the Opa Oranmiyan domiciled in ile ife, the source…the underpinnings of our civilisation, history and cultural heritage have been the tradition of tolerance, openness to new ideas, respect for ancient wisdom, intellectual pursuit and abhorrence of violence. The Yoruba people are loving testimony to the noble tradition of blending the old and the new.” (page 139-143). There lies the traditional heritage of the Yorubas of the South western Nigeria and beyond. The language is simple, fluid and self explanatory. It helps the reader to follow the sequence of historical facts and reinforced the authority of the author as a quintessential Yoruba Oba imbued with candour and grace of royalty. His use of proverbs, or local idioms of Yoruba Language, pieced with appropriate translation in English, enhanced the quality of the publication for children yet unborn to tap from Oba Adedapo Tejuoso’s, logical analysis and writing prowess. As a medical doctor and traditional ruler of note, he has surely raised the bar in contributing his quota to the literary world. Here, effective use of pictures, both coloured and black and white, to sign post and enhanced the quality of the publication. The opening coloured picture on the covered page lifts up the beauty of the book, while the relevant pictures therein confirm the uniqueness of the book. The quality of the print and lettering generally are commendable, and makes the book pleasurable to read. However, anyone genuinely interested in the authentic story of Yorubaland and the pre-eminent role of Oranmiyan in annals of Yoruba, must get a copy of this book, read and digest the rich contents. It is a classical work of arts which generations of Nigerians and more importantly historians and researchers will found worthy of reading and for research work on Yoruba history.

I was hit by a major sickness - Dora Akinyuli writes Nigeria

I am ok now - Dora akinyuli
Letter from Dora Akinyuli  “My Dear Friends, my attention has been drawn to a story making the rounds online, claiming that I am seriously sick, currently out of the country and in need of urgent prayers. This story is baseless, unfounded and the handiwork of mischief makers. It should be ignored and discarded in its entirety. As every informed Nigerian knows, I am a delegate to the National Conference currently holding in Abuja. I was duly accredited as a delegate and I am currently in attendance at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja, venue of the conference.

While it is true that I recently came out of a major sickness, for which I thank Almighty God for delivering me, I have since been declared fit by my doctors and returned to my normal activities. I shed much weight in the course of the sickness – which is normal – but I am well now and only need time to re-grow some flesh. There is nothing to worry about either my health or my present stature. I know that God has kept me alive for a purpose, this National Conference being part of that purpose.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am well now, fit, strong enough and ready for this all-important National Conference and I look forward to collaborating with other delegates to chart the way for a better Nigeria. I thank all my friends for their love and prayers. May Almighty God bless and reward you.”Dora

To hell with Segun Oni

To hell with Segun Oni
Why I hate Segun Oni with passion
If you think I am going out of my mind by telling the world that I hate His Excellency Segun Oni, the former Governor of Ekiti state who in his magnanimity appointed me as his spokesperson or Chief Press Secretary ( CPS) , you have the right to your opinion. I give no hoot to that
Honestly and sincerely , i regretted serving this man as his CPS .
I never bargained nor struggled to be the CPS of HE Oni .
In fact , I was enjoying myself with a friend at a luxurious villa in East Legion , Ghana , having romance with Red Label when HE called to inform me about the appointment.
It was a double celebration that day as we shifted the celebration from East Legion to a cosy hotel near the beach !
The first person who called from Nigeria congratulated me and happy that I have joined the people in the corridor of power and essentially that the time has come for us to make money as most CPS used to do .
Of course , I am not so fastidious about making money , God has a way of providing for my upkeep without begging .
But I know to be a very reasonable spender who not tolerate brazen stealing .
But I never knew he would carry this virtue to government house where the money is supposed to be free for spending particularly for some of us in the bedroom of power.
I remember the last assignment I handled for him when he was at ETF in Ibadan .
I remember vividly the ETF South - West stakeholder summit held then at Lafia Hotel, Apata Ganga Ibadan where I coordinated the media, the visual recording and banners.
I remember brother Segun telling us to fill a form to remit and return some extra ( miscellaneous ) back to EFT !
We argued against this move .
But the Ifaki Orikina man ensured we officially returned what should have been ordinarily our lot
I honestly thought he would not carry this attitude to the government house .
On that point , I made the biggest mis - calculation of my life time
For ,( kaka ko san fun iya aje)
But he did . It was even in greater measure and wider proportion .
How do you expect me to love a man who believed that political position or appointment is not to make money but serve the people ?
How do you want me to adore a man who believe the scarce resources of Ekiti should not been used first of all to pay furniture allowances of the " supreme political appointees" but be diverted and used for public good ?
Do you think I should like a Governor who insisted of going to Abuja by road instead of going in a chartered flight every time ?
He abridged the salary of political appointees and his aides by 40 per cent instead of finding unwholesome ways of shoring it up at the expense of the state .
How should I adore a man who never allowed us his personal aides to steal or indulge in too much in perquisites of office ? . The Ekiti civil servants hated him so much because of his araldite hand and this led to them bombarding God with volley of powerful torrent prayers calling for his removal just because he blocked some of the holes where some of them used to siphon Ekiti's money . . They believed that the person whom they expected - Fayemi will open the till free for them . But I think Fayemi has disappointed them again . The prayer against Fayemi is even more fervent now as they now think , Fayemi is even going beyond normal at blocking where they eat !
This is also the reason why his
own party member, I mean the PDP joined forces with the opposition against him just because he injected uprightness into governance and politics . The national body of his party also looked elsewhere when his case in court was manipulated .
I hate this man who left Governor's stead with only 8 million naira home and abroad .
I hate Segun Oni for not having deals with contractors .
I hate him for telling us always never to allow our personal interest to override the love for Ekiti
I hate this man who believes honesty , uprightness , dedication , straightforwardness is the best policy
I hate HE Segun Oni for preventing Moyo from coming to supply and pay me a visit in kiririkiri , if I had stolen then.
I hate Segun Oni for for piloting me to hold my head high as someone who served his state without blemish
I hate him
I hate him
I hate him with passion .

GTJ LAUDS MBANEFO OVER ITB BERLIN

THE Guild of Tourism Journalists (GTJ) in Nigeria has lauded the director-general, Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mrs Sally Mbanefo over her brilliant performance at the just concluded ITB Berlin, Germany.
In a release signed by its President, Wale Ojo Lanre, the association noted that Mrs Mbanefo sensibly displayed her resourcefulness as a professional marketer at arresting the attention of investors and tourism buyers at the world tourism global meet.
According to the association “the DG deserves a pat on her back at advancing the cause of domestic tourism despite the fact that Nigeria did not have a stand nor exhibited at ITB, Berlin.
“We are proud that despite the fact that Nigeria had no stand nor exhibited at the fair, the DG was able to mobilise six powerful delegates from Nigeria to conquer the European Market seamlessly, cultivating regard and honour for Nigeria”.

According to the release, “We are also impressed by the encounter which the DG had with Directors of Vera Mare Hotels which has led to the opening of multi-billion naira investment window opportunity for Nigeria as the Directors have promised to plant a five star hotel in Nigeria just because of the DG’s interaction and effective ways of selling Nigeria”.
The Guild noted that, “what Nigeria was not able to achieve when it planted multi-million naira stands was accomplished by you without a multi-million naira stand. This is commendable, appropriate and a landmark in the history of the corporation”.
The Guild of Tourism journalists described the strides of the DG since her appointment in May 2013 as impressive pointing out that none of her predecessors has  ever got the mileage she had covered in six months.
“ It is on record that no DG of NTDC has ever visited the six geo political zones within a six - month record .You have. proved and distinguished yourself as an achiever who works  the talk not one who talk the work’ ‘
The Association applauded  the DG decision on foreign travels , exhibition and market by stating categorically that ‘ gone were the days when Nigeria would be attending fair for attending sake or mounting a stand for mounting sake without achieving any concrete goals.”
The Association concurred with the DG that the Corporation should be selective in which travel fairs to exhibit and participate adding that there is no law which forces or compels Nigeria to exhibit or be an observer in any fair
“We must state here that Nigeria is not under oath to attend any fair. Attending trade fairs and exhibiting in any market show is on the prerogative of the corporation which must consider many option adding that attendance and status of attendance is a prerogative of the NTDC
The association assured the DG of its support and collaboration as ‘ we assure you of our support and collaboration by engaging you in constructive discussion and deliberation on issues and matters arising. This is the only way we can move the sector forward’

Quotable quotes of Sally Mbanefo, , DG , Nigeria Tourism @ ITB Berlin , 2014

Quotable quotes of Sally Mbanefo @ ITB Berlin , 2014
On not hoisting a Stand in Berlin
She said that “gone were the days when Nigeria would be attending fair for attending sake or mounting a stand for mounting sake without achieving any concrete goals. Not again. For every fair or tourism market we henceforth attend, there must be a measurable goal and an assessment of the objective at the end of the day. Every penny spent on a trade fair or tourism market must worth the salt"
.............................................................................................
On President Jonathan
“Nigeria is investors’ haven. We have the people. We have the love and abundance hospitality of no equal measure in Africa. The resources are there. To cap it all, we have a President who has a rare passion for investors and ready to protect investment.”
..............................................................................
Selling Nigeria to Europe as investors' haven
Engaging the Spanish head of delegation, Mrs Mbanefo said “Nigeria has a population of over 160 million friendly and most happiest people on earth. There is no business that cannot thrive in Nigeria. It is a country immensely blessed by God and stocked with numerous tourism potentialities some of which have been developed while some are still in their pristine stage waiting to be developed. We are here not only to sell our country to you as a tourism sites, but most importantly as an investment haven.”
...................................................................
Diaspora message
Mrs Mbanefo lauded Mr Zotto for doing the country proud with his handiwork and for distinguishing himself in his chosen profession.

“As an artist, I understand, appreciate and value this portrait of mine. That it is my picture on the canvass has not removed the message and purpose of your act . It is not only patriotic, but a signal that if those of you in Diaspora can identify and see the genuineness and seriousness of purpose in a programme and the person driving it, Nigerians in Diaspora will respond positively.”
.............................................................

Responses
From Turkish investor
Mr Onaldi revealed that his company, Vera Mare which parades eight exotic five star hotels in Turkey has been contemplating spreading its tentacles overseas.

“In our effort and desire to expand overseas, we have been considering Morocco and Egypt. But because of your conviction and powerful presentation about business opportunities in Nigeria, we are assuring you of our interest in your country and desire to do business with you, Mrs.

DG , we are willing to build a five – star hotel in Nigeria.”
..................................................................
Spanish delegate
She marshaled to Nigeria’s domestic tourism at the Spanish stand eloquently that the head of the delegation had to commend her for projecting Nigeria properly as a bride.

“Madam, you made me feel like jumping into the next flight enroute Nigeria. This is great. I know that Nigeria is a great country and I am glad to hear from you that President Goodluck Jonathan is doing great and that good people are now at the helms of affairs. At least Madam, you are good.”
.......................................................................
From Babson Zotto ,
Mr Zotto who has been living in Belgium in the last 24 years said that “ I have been keeping my eyes on Mrs Mbnaefo’s activities since her appointment. You seem to be the first DG of NTDC who really has a concrete programme for Nigeria in Diaspora in terms of culture and tourism. I have read your testament of mission and vision particularly and I am fascinated by your desire to pull us back home. And in order to show that some of us in Diaspora are in agreement with your vision and have many things to offer, I had to look for your photograph on the net to demonstrate and showcase one of the areas in which we excelled here and could be useful at home.”

I would have stoned Jesus !

I would have stoned Jesus !
And probably you too
Yes , I would have stoned my Lord Jesus Christ had it been I was alive when he commenced the restoration ministry of his which has set us free from the bondage of the laws of the old - The laws made by dead men to control the living .
i would have gleefully joined the fools , the idiots , the men in high places then to cast stone on Jesus Christ , the son of my mother virgin Mary for waking up to his divine calling by condemning the in public those rules which were deliberately set to keep the masses in perpetual political bondage and religious slavery .
Why would I not joined them to stone the ordinary son of Joseph , that carpenter who i have hired to repair my broken door and whose son is having the gut at telling us that what we were doing were not only bad but ungodly and thatwe shall pay for them ?
I would have joined them , in stoning to death , a boy of no particular parentage who stormed the synagogues where our clerics of antediluvian genre hold forte accusing them of being brood of vipers , sons of devil and of evil and adulterious generation.
I would have stoned Jesus , a boy of 30 0r 33 years then who was possessed by what we cannot fathom speaking wise words which those elders cannot ever thought of uttering
Iwould have joined them in stoning Jesus who invaded our church , condemned the trading activities and up turned the tables of money changers who we deliberately kept there to exploit the congregants and make money for us .
I would have joined them in clubbing to death Jesus Christ who exposed our hypocritical state and humiliated us when we wanted to stone to death that lady that committed small adultery ( which is even smaller to the one we daily indulge in )
I would have joined them to tear the cloth of Jesus Christ and parade him naked for raising the consciousness of the people , the common people at seeing the horrendous imperfections and atrocities we committed under the old laws
I would have joined them in dragging him on Mt Golgotha , forced him to drink urine for having the gut to say the truth , the whole truth , nothing but the truth that He is the way , the only way to reach his father in heaven
I would have stoned Jesus Christ for making himself a scape goat and sacrificial lamb so that you and I could be saved from the darkness of the world and its egregious principalities
I would have joined them in stoning the man whose agrarian commitment to his divine calling and determination not to let the cup pass over him has given and offer the world life in abundance , unlimited freedom , abundance grace and un exemplified salvation.
I would have joined them in stoning you my Lord Jesus Christ because of your unrestricted , hold no barred and poignancy at telling the world the TRUTH which is not only bitter but pierce the mind like a poisonous arrow does to a body .
I thank you Jesus for me being not around them because I would not have gotten the temperament of assimilating the truth which you dispensed without considering whose ox was gored and which eventually liberate the world from the gulag of the devil
My Lord Jesus , the son of Virgin Mary , I thank you for unleashing the truth over the world and revealing to us through the babes and the sucklings what the elders in the synagogue , the pharisees and Sadducee, the son of Eli can never thought of saying
Thank you Jesus for saving the world and for your grace over me .
Praise the Lord !
Glory to Jesus
Honour to Mary and Joseph
Good morning to us all .
Stone Jesus if you can !

AT ITB 2014, MBANEFO FACILITATES MULTI–BILLION INVESTMENTS TO NIGERIA HONOURED BY A NIGERIAN IN DIASPORA

Nigerian Tribune 12.Mar.2014
By Wale Ojo-Lanre who was in Berlin , Germany

Mr Ayo Olumoko, CEO, inFOGEM, Mr Boniface Eboka, Alhaji Kabir Mallam, Mrs Sally Mbanefo, Director-General, NTDC, Mr Dayo Babalola, (Babson Zotto) Mr. O. Funebi and Fibi Ikilama with the art work presented to honour Sally at ITB Berlin. The Director–General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, (NTDC), Mrs Sally Mbanefo proved her mettle as a thorough marketer from the private sector at the 2014 ITB Berlin, travel fair held in Germany between March 5 and 9 by deploying her wits not only to sell Nigeria tourism potentialities to the European market but garnering goodwill and multi-billion dollars investments for Nigeria.

Mrs Mbanefo who was not present at the opening ceremony of the fair as she was busy defending her corporation’s budget at the National Assembly in Nigeria where she was commended by the Senators and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives for her strides so far stormed the global tourism fair with a sizeable proactive delegates from Nigeria on Thursday 6, March and swiftly embarked on massive selling of Nigeria tourism potentialities utilizing her experience in the banking to convince world Europeans on the potentialities inherent in domestic tourism in Nigeria.

Mrs Mbanefo’s aura and gut by dressing in Nigeria’s national colour of the green–white–green jersey of the Nigeria Football Association, (NFA), and lacing up with Nigeria’s flag -like head gear, a style which has become her niche and identity endeared her to all and opened floodgate of goodwill and better appreciation of Nigeria at ITB Berlin 2014.

Leading a potent and vibrant powerful Nigeria delegation which include Alhaji Kabir Mallan, a board member of the corporation who was an ex–Vice President, Federation of Tourism Associations in Nigeria, (FTAN) and a successful tour practitioner, Mr Ayo Olumoko, CEO, Infogem Consults the promoter of Osun Osogbo International Festival and Vice–president, FTAN Lagos Zone, and four other staff of NTDC who are specialists in promotion and marketing, Mrs Mbanefo caused a stir at the European section where they recited Nigeria’s national anthem to the delight of all.

She revealed that, her delegation was making the European section the first port of call because “at WTM London, we made Africa our sign post.

We won the hearts of our fellow regional counterparts and we have been working steady on many integrative tourism networking – a process I initiated in November last year in London. We are in ITB Berlin, Germany this time around , it is our duty to utilize this opportunity to the fullness by braking into the European market. And this is one of the reasons I am here with this notable tourism practitioners from the private sector and this is why I am going to focus on Europe at this fair.”

She said that “gone were the days when Nigeria would be attending fair for attending sake or mounting a stand for mounting sake without achieving any concrete goals. Not again. For every fair or tourism market we henceforth attend, there must be a measurable goal and an assessment of the objective at the end of the day. Every penny spent on a trade fair or tourism market must worth the salt. Hence, our goal here is to conquer Europe and link Nigeria with their market. We need the European as visitors, tourists and investors. The European market is essential to us and we will visit them one after the other.”

Mrs Mbanefo resourcefully turned the fact that Nigeria had no stand at 2014 into an enviable advantage as she and the delegation promptly made a successful and rewarding tour of Spain,Italy, France , Belgium, Greece Russia, Andorra, Hungary Austria Iceland , Azerbaijan, ·Ireland Scotland and Poland where the head of delegation begged her to have a treat of massage .

At each of these stands, Mrs Mbanefo expressed deep conviction of the gospel according to Nigerian domestic tourism in convincing the head of delegates of these countries into opening constructive and development engagement with NTDC.

From one stand to the other, it was admiration of her message, carriage, acknowledgment of Nigeria domestic tourism and recognition of the fact that Nigeria is at last getting through to Europe.

Mrs Mbanefo was also given a rousing reception at the French’s stand where she interacted with various exhibitors.

She was particularly excited by the champagne tourism which the French national were so proud of. She discussed extensively and posed questions on the modality of the Champagne tourism and informed the French delegation of her plan of hoisting palm wine tourism in Nigeria as well.

Mrs Sally Mbanefo addressing a press conference at ITB BerlinMrs Mbanefo added value of pride to Nigeria at the French’s stand when she revealed herself as an artist. This actuated the French delegation in facilitating a meeting between her and Henry Matisse, the French famous artist and sculptor who was honoured at the stand that day.

Mr Matisse too who was excited and impressed by Mrs Mbanefo’s expose on development in contemporary art world revealed that African art and sculptures inspired and urged him to greatness.

He disclosed that his visit to Nigeria and Africa some years ago helped in no small measure to horn his artistic prowess and sculptural versatility, added that he was willing and ready to collaborate and facilitate whatever development initiatives which could add value to Mrs Mbanefo’s stride.

If Mrs Mbanefo’s carriage, and conduct had attracted goodwill to Nigeria at the Spanish, Polish, French Italian stands, her savvy, mien and expression did wonders for Nigeria at the Turkish stand.

Her recent signing of Memorandum of Understanding, (MOU), with the Turkish – Nigeria Chambers of Commerce and Industry added value of great importance to her exploit at the ITB Berlin.

The WIDC boss’ tourism strides in Nigeria must have filtered into the Turkish stand as the Nigerian delegation was accorded a red carpet treatment.

Addressing the line of investors, Mrs Mbanefo exposed the business opportunity which abound in Nigeria and explained in details the various concessions and incentives being offered by President Jonathan to any genuine investor.

“Nigeria is investors’ haven. We have the people. We have the love and abundance hospitality of no equal measure in Africa. The resources are there. To cap it all, we have a President who has a rare passion for investors and ready to protect investment.”

She revealed further that “desirous of attracting and hosting investors, the Nigerian government has piled up stack of generous incentives and concessions aimed at ensuring stability and enhancing profitability.”

Impressed and convinced by Mrs Mbanefo’s delivery and advocacy on investment in Nigeria, the General Manager, Vera Mare resort, Antalya, Turkey, Mr Tamer Onaldi stood up. said: “You are a good representative of your country. Our company, Vera Mare Resorts is interested in your country.”

Consequently, Mrs Mbanefo promptly set up a business meeting with Mr Onaldi where many issues relating to the mutually beneficial relationship between NTDC and the Vera Mare were discussed.

March 7, Friday was another exciting and glorious day for the Nigerian delegation headed by Mrs Mbanefo at ITB Berlin 2014.

Mr Tamer Onaldi GM, Vera Mare ResortIt was a day a journalist described as befitting and one of the finest days for Nigeria at home and in the Diaspora.

It was the day that one of the finest Nigerians, a famous artist and the only Nigerian recognised jeans designer in Belgium, Mr Dayo Babalola with the designer’s Babson Zotto drove from Belgium to Messe Berlin to honour and commend Mrs Mbanefo for her strides at emancipating domestic tourism in Nigeria and encouraging the blacks in Diaspora to come back and contribute meaningfully to their roots.

Mr Zotto disclosed that “I have to go all the eight hours of motion from Belgium to Berlin, which to me is not too much a risk for a lady artist, lawyer and an accomplished technocrat who is doing well as the DG, NTDC and making Nigeria proud wherever she goes.

“What I am presenting to her is not an enlarged picture of her, rather it is what we called hairbrush on canvass which only few Nigerians know how to do. It took me seven days to accomplish this and to tell the emotional part of it, I was on this work when I heard of the death of my mother, but I have to continue not only to honour Mrs Mbanefo who is a lady of valour doing well for Nigeria, but to also remember my mum too who was a mother in need and deed.”

Mrs Mbanefo in her response condoled with Mr Zotto on the death of his mother and commended him for being altruistic in his patriotism.

“I salute your altruism in patriotism. When I was notified yesterday that a famous Nigeria born Belgian Based jean designer who has stayed in Belgium for 24 years had a message for me. I thought it was just an ordinary message to a friend. I was shocked on arrival here today to see that you are honoring me with a beautiful work of art which I value so much.”

She called on other Nigerians in Diaspora not only to emulate Mr Zotto, but also let their experience and exposition rub – off well on Nigeria at this time when “ we have a visionary President who is working earnestly at making sure that Nigeria has a place of pride in the comity of nations.”

The achievements, goodwill, solid contacts, commitment to investment proposals, systematic selling of Nigeria to the European market, signing of MoUs and the luring of investors to Nigeria which Mrs Mbanefo and the Nigerian delegation accomplished at the ITB Berlin 2014 vindicated the saying that you don’t necessary need a big and costly stand to make an impact and achieve success in travel fairs particularly when there is paucity of fund and logistic constraints. It is just a matter of vision, focus, resourcefulness and aggressive determination to achieve success and make the world see what you have to offer.

This is what Mrs Mbanefo and the Nigerian delegation have proved to the world in a remarkable and commendable stride at 2014 ITB Berlin.
