The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwumi Ambode on December 31,
the eve of a new year dispensed sadness and sorrow into the entire family of
one of the foremost Pharmacists in Nigeria Late Kayode Fashina popularly called
Biode Pharmacy when he deployed the state apparatus to demolish and pull down
the only property left behind by the late pharmacist there by leaving his widow
to gnash her teeth in misery and tears in the new year
The property, located on Karimu...Giwa Street , South West , Ikoyi has been the subject of legal action
arising from the intention of the Lagos State Government , Lagos State Development and
Property Corporation , LSDPC ,in particular at depriving the Late Fashina’s wife and
family of their property .
Subsequent to the various act of trespassing, threat and
unlawful attempts to forcibly take the property from the true owner , the
Lawyer of the Late Fashina , Chief Bolaji Ayorinde wrote and dispatched a letter on 22 September 2015 to Governor Ambode , in the letter which was
received and acknowledged by the Governor on 23 September 2015 , the lawyer
stated how LSDPC has been making attempt at occupying and depriving its clients
of a property which he has owed in the last 40 years on ground of purported state acquisition of
the land .
In the letter the attention of the Governor was called to
the fact that “ We have in view of the above instituted an action at the Lagos
High Court in respect of same wherein we
are challenging the act of trespass , unlawful interference with possession and
purported acquisition of pour clien’t property by the Lagos state government “
The letter affirmed that in view of the fact that the matter
has been taken to court, parties are enjoined to maintain status quo ante
pending the determination of the suit before the Court.
However, Ambode in flagrant abuse of the Court process and in
defying court view o ordered the state apparatus to demolish and pull down the
said property on a day to New Year.
