First picture of British Ebola victim: Doctor who sat next to her on flight back from Sierra Leone says she could have contracted deadly virus by taking off her suit at Christmas Day church service
The British woman who is the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola on UK soil is believed to be experienced Scottish nurse Pauline Cafferkey, left and right. The 39-year-old, who has been a nurse for 16 years and usually works at the Blantyre Health Centre in South Lanarkshire, flew out to Sierra Leone in November to treat those with the killer disease. Today she is in an isolation unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London after being flown from Glasgow this morning surrounded by a large medical team in protective clothing, inset. Dr Martin Deahl, from Shropshire, sat next to her on their flight back to Britain from Casablanca on Sunday as part of a group of 30 other medics. He said the Ebola testing regime at Heathrow Airport was 'shambolic' as staff ran out of medical kits and he believes Public Health England has put the public at unnecessary risk.
