A suspected murderer who was reportedly found in a hotel room eating parts of a woman's face was killed after police tasered him.
Matthew Williams, 34, was caught in a room with a 22-year-old woman with severe facial injuries by police.
Security staff raised the alarm after they broke down the door and discovered him allegedly eating the woman.
Williams, who had only been released from a long sentence for violence just two weeks ago, died after he was struck by a high voltage taser which was being used to apprehend him.
He was formally arrested but moments later became "unresponsive" and died.

The woman, who he had just met, was also confirmed dead from her injuries in the room of the Sirhowy Arms Hotel in the village of Argoed, near Blackwood, South Wales.
Jill Edwards, who lives near the hotel, described him as an "animal".
"Security said they told him no girls in his room and he didn't answer, when they opened his door he was eating her face," she said.
Williams - known by his nickname Fifi - had just served half a five-year prison sentence for a violent attack on his partner who lives nearby.
He was staying at the hotel which operated as a bail hostel and had taken his victim back there for a drink.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at t 1.23am on Thursday after a report that a man was attacking a woman in the Sirhowy Arms Hotel.
"On arrival both the male and female were still at the location.
"A taser was discharged and a man was arrested.
"The woman was located with injuries and has since been pronounced deceased.
"While under arrest, the man became unresponsive. Officers and paramedics administered first aid but he has since been pronounced deceased.
"A murder investigation is underway into the death of the woman."
Police confirmed both the man and young woman, who has not been named, were known to each other.
The spokeswoman added: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and an investigation is underway."
Police were carrying out forensic tests on a silver BMW believed to belong to Williams which was parked outside the hotel.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been called in to investigate Williams' death because he was in police custody after being tasered.
A spokeswoman for the watchdog said: "The IPCC is independently investigating an incident overnight in Blackwood in which a man and a woman have died.
"Gwent Police referred the incident to the IPCC."
The Sirhowy Arms was a pub until it was turned into a B&B and bail hostel catering for up to 26 guests.
The redbrick hotel has nine rooms, five doubles, three singles and a family room and is used by the local council to give temporary accommodation to people in the area.
Argoed county and community councillor Leon Gardiner said the village was is in shock at the tragedy.
"I have lived here and represented Argoed for over 30 years and this is the worst tragedy that has happened for us as a village," he said.
"This has hit the community for six.
"I am very disturbed and upset to think this has happened. Argoed is a lovely place.
"The people who run the Sirhowy Arms Hotel in the village are absolutely brilliant and run it well.
"Every time I've been there it's been a pleasure."
June Trace, secretary of Argoed Baptist Chapel, which is next door to the hotel, said: "It's a real shock".
She added: "There's never been any trouble or anything."
IPCC Commissioner for Wales, Jan Williams, said: "I would like to express my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased at this sad and difficult time.
"Our investigators are gathering all relevant evidence to understand the full circumstances of what happened.
"We have made contact with the man's family, and will be meeting with them to explain our role and our independent investigation."
A post mortem and formal identification of the man will take place at a later date.

This is a lesson to all governors in Nigeria . A lesson that they should apply a high level of circumspection and sensibility whenever there is a need to appoint people to positions of authority particularly if that post will have to do with interacting with the image of the state and the citizen.
Nigeria could have reached a pretty development stage if past administrators have taken the pains in selected competent and credible people to manage the affairs of the country .
What is the culture is used political and personal sentiment as the benchmark for political appointment without consideration to whether the appointees have the brain , the attitudinal modules , the gut and body language to perform and justify the trust of appointment .
The tourism sector has been a victim of this malady .
This is because most of those who have being in the saddle of authority do not understand the import of tourism and cannot fathom how essential this sector is to the survival of the economy .
Thus whenever there is the need to appoint tourism administrators , they go for anybody or appoint those who they hate their faces but who circumstance and political necessities ensure they are appointed
And what do you expect from such a person , perfunctoriness and mediocre performance at the place of post of duty .
Since nothing much is expected of them , they too will not stride hard to be the best .
That recent World Travel Market , which took place in London 3 - 6 November 2014 ,where the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation , NTDC, led by its Director - General , Mrs Sally Nwechue Mbanefo participated fully gave an insight into the changing phenomenon in the perception of who rules the tourism sector .
The Nigeria's performance this year at the market was not only impressive but it witness the visible participation of members of private sector with Ogun State leading the pack of the state delegation
The performance and conduct of the Ogun state delegation at the fair left many wondering where Governor Amosun got this woman Commissioner from .This is because it is one thing for a governor to appoint a commissioner and another issue for that fellow to live up to expectation.
Mrs Yewande Amusan was an opposite of one's expectation due to the performance and conduct of previous commissioners of tourism from Nigeria in such travel markets and fair .
Imagine Mrs Amusan who was sent by a whole Governor of a state with a state money and dignity to while away time at WTM as her peers used to see such an assignment attaching seriousness of purpose to the event by visiting the venue to assess the exhibition ground and ensure that the Ogun state stand was in proper fitness before the opening day instead of her to be sleeping in her hotel room ?
As if not is enough , these Amusan women shocked us on the opening day when she led the Ogun state delegation to the hall far before the time of opening and ensure that everything was right in accordance with the procedure set by NTDC lady ?
Mrs Amusan shocked the world at the fair by remaining unassuming and humbly interacting with all without minding her pristine beauty and going about in Adire Iro and buba spreading the tourism vision and strides of Governor Amosun in a more convincing manner which revaled her as an extremely intelligent lady who knows a lot about tourism !
Unlike others , Mrs Amusan too religiously ensured her timely presence at the Nigerian Stand like the DG , personally attending to questions and inquisitions about Ogun State as if she is not a COMMISSIONER
What surprised all was her systematic and proactive ways of mobilizing the Ogun state delegate at attracting buyers to the stand and her synchronization of vision with Mrs Sally Mbanefo at showing the world how to tie and dye clothe into adire .
Mrs Amusan unlike some others almighty Commissioners never abandoned the Ogun state stand to engage in wanton shopping but instead , she utilized the opportunity in visiting other countries" stands telling them why Ogun State is the "Gateway to 'Nigeria tourism "
Her conducts , interaction ,robust sense of duty , humility and proactive endeared Ogun state to many .
She is wonderful . I swear.

As a young mum with glamorous looks, curvaceous figure and bee-sting pout, the similarities with reality star Kim Kardashian are there for all to see.
Claudia Ochoa Felix even has the millionaire life and army of bodyguards.
However unlike the US celeb’s heavies, the armed security of the Mexican beauty are not to protect her from over-zealous fans... but from assassins.
For Claudia has reportedly become the new head of the world’s most ruthless hit squad Los Ántrax, responsible for hundreds of bloody murders as the deadly Sinaloa drug cartel’s elite contract killer squad.
The Mexican gang is known to US intelligence as “the world’s most powerful drug trafficking organisation”, its hitmen feared as the planet’s deadliest.
In recent years they were linked to three frozen bodies hung from a bridge, eight people shot playing volleyball and a gun battle with rivals which left 30 dead.

But after Los Ántrax boss Jose Rodrigo Arechiga Gamboa – known as El Chino – was arrested, his Twitter-loving girlfriend Claudia is said to have been installed as the new chief.
Until then her every move had been charted on social media sites where she regularly posted pictures of herself in stilettos, caressing her custom-made pink AK-47 automatic rifle, reclining among masked men and propping a deadly M16 assault rifle on her curvaceous hip.
Her portrayal of a life of narcotics and narcissism undercut her emphatic denial that she is La Emperatriz de Los Ántrax - the Empress of Los Ántrax.
Known as the Mexican Kim Kardashian, the mother-of-three gained notoriety after it was wrongly reported she had been tortured and assassinated. The victim was, in fact, Yurina Castillo Torres, a former girlfriend of Gamboa who looked remarkably like Claudia. Despite her insistence that she is just a devoted mum, Claudia wasted no time in capitalising on the mistake by raising her notoriety through her internet sites with a flood of incriminating pictures.
But as news emerged of her rise to power she was quick to delete as much evidence as she could linking her to Los Ántrax. Instead she created a new Facebook page adding she had done so “to clarify all your doubts so as also to answer your questions... the only thing I ask is you to be respectful!” she wrote.
Gone were the pictures she had revelled in and in their place appeared photos of a loving mother devoted to her two young sons children and her “princesita” daughter.
The images of her past however remain across the internet. Pictures showing her AK-47 on the red leather seats of a BMW Series 3, the skull symbol of Los Antrax painted in black on the ammunition clip and another of one of her young sons lying on a bed covered in bundles of cash. She can be seen posing with members of a folk band which composed a ballad to Los Ántrax. In one photo the 27-year-old is even seen holding a grenade launcher while warning: “Watch your step, friend!”

Claudia is also seen countless times in images posted by young members of the Sinaloa. One intelligence source said: “Felix claims she is just a regular mum but how many mothers have custom-made guns?
“She has access to astronomical wealth but has never worked a day nor come from a family with money. None of her former boyfriends have either.”
The father of her children is reported to be feared cartel lieutenant El Chavo Felix. However they split and Claudia moved on to another gang member Dorian Trinidad Leon Angulo. He died in a car
crash – shortly after escaping jail – in 2011 while Claudia sat by his side.
She survived and again found love inside the cartel, becoming involved with El Chino who, according to reports, she went on to marry. The playboy was the gang’s top enforcer. His main roles were to oversee its armed squadron and protect Sinaloa’s top brass, which included the leader of the cartel, El Chapo (Shorty) Guzman, who is currently under arrest in Mexico.
Like Claudia, El Chino loved social media, inundating Twitter and Instagram with photos showing his ill-gotten sports cars, yachts and guns. Away from the internet he was busy ensuring the Sinaloa cartel remained the most powerful gang in the world.
A blood-soaked war between drug gangs, raging in Mexico since 2006, has claimed 100,000 lives. Anyone who threatens to stand in Sinaloa’s way is immediately killed, with El Chino accused of being personally responsible for many murders, including the killings of the three hung from a bridge in 2011.
The execution was seen as revenge after a Sinaloa leader was murdered in a war with the rival Beltran Leyva cartel.
Countless victims have been executed by the gang’s trademark chainsaw beheading. Several folk songs, known as narcocorridos, mention El Chino Antrax as an elegant and fit man with a taste for the high life – and extreme violence. His nickname, El Chino, is said to have been coined as he looks to some as though he has Chinese ancestry.
In Twitter and Instagram posts he would often blur his face, while wielding automatic weapons and posing with scantily clad girls.

Other flashy shots show cars, boats, helicopters and expensive jewellery. One picture is with Paris Hilton. According to a report, he photo-bombed the US socialite while she gave a TV interview. However US authorities used his addiction to the web to build a case against him and in December he was arrested in Amsterdam. Two weeks ago a Dutch court approved extradition to the US where he is wanted on drug charges.
America quickly moved to seize the wealth he flaunted online. Wanting to maintain his power base, El Chino apparently ensured that his wife became his successor. Claudia strenuously denies taking up his reins but she is now a target for rivals. Last month gunmen grabbed Castillo Torres as she left a gym believing her to be Claudia. She was tortured, hanged and her body dumped behind a school.
And news of Claudia’s alleged “appointment” led to a frenzy of activity on her media sites. She soon accumulated more than 100,000 followers.
Despite the assassination bid, Claudia refuses to quit her champagne lifestyle and is often seen in the clubs of Mazatlan, Culiacan and Guadalajara.
But now she is always surrounded by armed men.

More than 150 football shirts, shorts and footballs once owned by former Liverpool, Aston Villa and England star David James are going under the hammer after the star went bust.
The collection of memorabilia is being sold in an online auction in the wake of the retired goalkeeper's financial struggles.
James, 43, made almost 70 appearances for Villa in a long career that also took in spells at clubs including Liverpool, West Ham and Manchester City.
But it emerged earlier this year that he had been declared bankrupt despite earning around £20 million from football, reports the Birmingham Mail.
His costly divorce from wife Tanya in 2005 was reportedly one of the main reasons for his plight.

A photo of some of the items available at hilcoind.co.uk showed signed England shirts as well as a Chelsea goalkeeper top.
The site said the sale would feature "unique football memorabilia and personal effects from one of England's most iconic goalkeepers".
It also listed sale items including Raleigh Chopper bikes, exercise machines, DJ equipment, a "large quantity" of vinyl records and books and a Vauxhall Astra customised van.
The lots will be sold off from November 18.

Twin brothers allegedly raped a terrified woman who was forced into having a threesome, a court heard.
Daryl Salt, 25, had just had consensual sex with the victim when his brother Thomas joined them in bed.
Richard Bennett, prosecuting, said the woman did not struggle but “acquiesced through fear” when both men then raped her.
The twins later told police the allegations were “lies”.
Daryl Salt, a pub landlord, is charged with raping and falsely imprisoning two women.
Thomas Salt is charged with raping and sexually assaulting the woman who was allegedly forced into the threesome.
All charges relate to the period between 2010 and 2012.
Mr Bennett said: “Both defendants were interviewed. They both said the allegations were lies.”
Daryl Salt was described in court as a Jekyll and Hyde character who had “a veneer of charm with an explosive and violent temper”.
His second alleged victim said she was locked in his property and he removed the doorknob to stop her from escaping, Mr Bennett said.
The woman tried to flee but he dragged her back upstairs, threw her on the bed and ripped her clothes off, the court heard.
“Daryl Salt put his arms around her throat and restricted her breathing by applying pressure,” Mr Bennett said.
“She thought she was going to die at that stage and sought to calm him down.”
They fell asleep but she was still imprisoned when they awoke, the court heard.
He raped her, despite the victim repeatedly saying “no”, Mr Bennett said.
He then took “souvenir” photos of the woman as she dressed, some of them covertly, the court heard.
The jury was shown pictures recovered from his mobile phone.
The prosecution said: “When she objected to him he told her he was going to put them all over Facebook and show people what a slapper she was.”
Daryl Salt is accused of five counts of rape and two counts of false imprisonment against two women between May 2010 and July 2012.
It is alleged he raped the first complainant a total of four times and the second complainant once.
In the same period Thomas Salt is accused of two counts of rape and one of assault by penetration against the first of the two alleged victims.
Both brothers, from Camblesforth, near Selby, North Yorks, deny all the charges.
The trial at Teesside crown court continues.
