The crisis in the newly formed All Progressive Party (APC) in Oyo State has taken a new dimension as some major stakeholders in the party condemned Governor Abiola Ajimobi for highhandedness and hijacking of the party for selfish interest

The group who made this condemnation after a crucial meeting at the Felele residence of late Alhaji Lam Adesina, former leader of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) also berated Ajimobi for implementing his policies and projects without human face.

It said members would resist any attempt by the party to foist a governorship candidate for 2015 poll that does not emerge democratically.

The group accused Governor Ajimobi of running his government alone, accusing him of abandoning ‘those that worked for his success in 2011 governorship election’.

The group consists of late Lam loyalists known as Lamists, and chieftains of the defunct CPC and ANPP.
Among the personalities in attendance were the governorship candidates of the defunct CPC and ANPP, Alhaji Shittu Adebayo and Wale Murphy, their chairmen, Alhaji Abideen Oladimeji and Alhaji Rasaq Folounso, former Oyo State Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Cooperative, Kazeem Adedeji, and Lamist coordinator, Dr. Kolawole Olayinka.

The group pointed out that the recent inauguration of APC in the state by Governor Ajimobi was a sham as the governor single-handedly organized it as a one man show without carrying other members from the other parties and factions along.

In his speech, Dr. Olayinka stated that the Lamists and other progressives in the party would ensure that Ajimobi does not return for second term stressing that the state could no longer cope with an arrogant person who runs the state like a personal business.

“People of Oyo State are clamouring for a better change not the bad change the incumbent administration has introduced. People of Oyo State want a leader who can identify with them. They want a leader they will have access to. They want a leader that will serve them genuinely”, he added.

Olayinka said that APC was yet to be inaugurated in the state adding that very soon, the party would be properly inaugurated.

In his own speech, Shittu rallied support for his governorship ambition saying that if elected as governor in the state, he would implement free education and free health in strict compliance with late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s policy. He also promised that jobs would be created for the jobless.

“With me, the sufferings being experienced by the people of Oyo State will become a thing of the past. We will run the government that will be accountable to the people. The money in government is enough to go round if judiciously spent”, Shittu said.

However, widow to Alhaji Lam described Shittu and others from CPC and ANPP as lost children who just returned back home.
