Three men, believed to be British, are being questioned by Irish drugs squad officers after the interception of a yacht carrying a cargo of cocaine with an estimated street value of £62.5 million.
The 70-year-old skipper of the 60ft Makayabella was arrested along with two crew members, aged 35 and 28, when the yacht was stormed by the Irish Navy 200 miles off Mizen Head, Ireland’s most southerly point. It was towed back to Haulbowline naval base in Cork harbour where it was unloaded under armed guard.
