Man slashes wife’s throat
For involving in alleged extra-marital affairs, a man, Michael Akpore, has allegedly slashed the throat of his wife to death.
The suspect, who has been nabbed by men of the Delta State police command, hails from Urhiephron community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
Akpore was said have personally reported himself to the Jeremi Divisional police station last week Thursday, after committing the heinous crime.
He was said to have lured his 32-year-old wife, Julie, on a motorcycle to a nearby bush on Iwhrekan/Ekakpamren Road in the community where he slashed her throat until she gave up the ghost.
Akpore was said to have claimed that he killed his wife for reasons of infidelity.
The remains of the deceased has, however, been deposited in a mortuary of Jeremi Hospital.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said Akpore had been arrested and had confessed to the crime.
Kalu said he “killed his wife because she confessed that she was having extra-marital affairs. He was promptly arrested, crime scene visited and the corpse of the said woman recovered and deposited at Jeremi Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.”
She said the motorcycle in which he lured his wife to the bush and the machete have been recovered while investigations were still ongoing.
