PDP has no respect for truth, says OYO ACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Oyo State chapter, has condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for what it called the party's disrespect for truth.

It made this known in a release issued by its state Publicity Secretary, Dauda Kolawole, in reaction to a PDP statement which deplored Governor Abiola Ajimobi's absence at the flag-off of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

"We ordinarily would not react to a piece of conjectural politicking as this. But we are forced to, for the sake of clarification, so that ordinary Nigerians would not be misled" the party said.

According to the party, it was unthinkable that the PDP would claim not to know that Governor Abiola Ajimobi was outside the country on an official duty.

"Virtually all Nigerians know that Governor Ajimobi was not in the country as he left for the UK to attend a Direct Investment Summit holding in London, United Kingdom. It was announced before his departure.  The summit, organized by the Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), showcased the many investment opportunities in the state to UK investors.

"Governor Ajimobi could thus not attend the flag-off but because of the respect he has for President Jonathan, his deputy, Chief Moses Adeyemo, attended on his behalf.

"For the PDP to embark on this gratuitous journey of inexactitude speaks volume of the quality of the party and the depth of the secretariat it runs that has no regard for truth," the party said.

The ACN said that, for the PDP to call the state helmsman "parochial" was a mirror of the decadence in the party.

"To call a representative of the electoral mandate of the good people of Oyo State such unprintable name shows the level of 'respect' the PDP owes a state whose people slaved under its iron hand in the state for eight years," ACN said.
