It emerged earlier this year that the 44-year-old, whose clubs included Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham and Manchester City, had been declared bankrupt despite earning around £20 million from football. It was said that his costly divorce from wife Tanya in 2005 was one of the main reasons for his financial woes.
