The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christiana Pilgrim Commission NCPC has commended Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State for his laudable programmes mostly in the areas of Education, water, Road infrastructure and free medical services for pregnant women and children.  saying these are programmes that has direct impacts on the lives of average Ekiti State indigenes.

This commendation was made when Mr. John Kennedy Opara led a delegation of the Commission on sensitization visit to the Governor recently  in Ado-Ekiti the State Capital.

Mr Opara said the purpose of his visit was to inform the Governor of the readiness of NCPC for this year’s Pilgrimage Activities and to present the package as approved by Mr. President to the Governor.

He said the cost of pilgrimage has been brought down with about 99-20% reduction compared to last year. This he said would encourage self sponsorship by an average Christians and for sponsors to be able to sponsor more people.

The NCPC boss also used the opportunity of the visit to inform the Governor of the introduction of Family Pilgrimage and the essence of the programme.

He explained that it has been observed that the increase in crime in our society today is as a result of the loss of family values and orientation. According to him, “if the foundation is wrong what can the righteous do”.  He emphasized that the introduction of Family pilgrimage is to create an opportunity for families to stay and pray together for a period of one week.

Mr. Opara said the theme for this year’s pilgrimage exercise is “Pilgrimage, a tool for moral and spiritual transformation”. He intimated that this is to compliment Mr. President’s transformation agenda.

The Governor thanked Mr. Opara and his team for the visit and the words of encouragement. He said Ekiti state people are People of Faith and they believe so much in prayers that is why the state could achieve what the NCPC helmsmen talked about. He promised to sponsor more Christian for 2013 Pilgrimage Exercise.
The Governor assured NCPC boss that the state government would reach out to those individuals and organizations that could also support the government in sponsoring Christians that are spiritually rich but materially poor to embark on the spiritual journey.
He promise to continually collaborate with NCPC through Ekiti State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board CPWB to ensure the success of this year’s Pilgrimage exercise.
