Obasanjo counsels leaders on development

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has called on leaders to live  up to the expectations of the needs of the people who elected or selected him to lead them

Chief Obasanjo gave this admonition while speaking as a special guest of honour at the official commissioning of water projects  executed by the Sokoto state government under the leadership of   Governor Aliyu Magatakarda wamako

According to him, “ A leader must live up to the expectations of the people who  either elects or select him to lead them, though   God ordains a leader but he did not only ordained them but want them to satisfy the needs of their subjects  and i want to urge those who are leaders now and who are to be leaders of tomorrow to  play their role effectively  and always  pray to God to grant  them the grace to perform their role”.

He said further that “ We have to pray for our leader and follower because if we have good leader and bad followers the equation is not balance and if we  have good followers and bad leaders the equation is not balance too, i pray that God give us leaders that will be responsible enough to respond to the yearnings of his people”.
He  however commended  the Sokoto state governor  Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for the water scheme  projects and urge him not to relent in his effort at bringing more meaningful d development to the  state
Earlier  in his speech  the Sultan  of  Sokoto Muhammadu Sa'adu Abubakar  has Eulogise  the  governor for his continuous  demonstration of love for the progress of Sokoto caliphate and  urge him not to relent in his effort at making the people of the state enjoy more dividends of  democracy.

The governor who was apparently  overwhelmed  by the encomium shower on him said the water project was born out of the need to  ensure  adequate water supply for domestic use and  farming so as to enhance agricultural production in the state.
