Tourists injured in Costa Rica bridge collapse
The night ended badly last Friday after several tourists were injured when a hanging bridge collapsed in the popular tourist destination of La Fortuna, in northern Costa Rica.
Seven people were injured after falling at least 15 meters at approximately 11 p.m. on Aug. 15 as a hanging bridge operated by the Los Lagos Hotel collapsed. A 14-year-old boy from the United States was hospitalized in San Carlos after the fall and is in stable condition, Red Cross press representative Freddy Román told The Tico Times. Six others suffered injuries to their arms, legs and chest but were not hospitalized.
The Los Lagos Hotel did not immediately reply to The Tico Times’ request for comment.
A report on the accident from the Costa Rican Tourism Board is expected in coming days.
