2015:Oyo needs rescue from pedestrian politics - APC

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressive Party (APC) has said that the latest diatribes against the ruling party in the state from the Accord Party and its leader, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, is a confirmation of what Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State had always said that the state needed to be rescued from the vice grip of pedestrian and petty politics of the Ladoja era.

The party  made this known in a release issued by Mr. Dauda Kolawole, ex-Publicity Secretary of the defunct Aaction Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and APC interim spokesman.

According to him, Accord Party and its sole leader were still in a deep slumber and do not realize that Oyo State had since left that era of cheap blackmail and petty, pedestrian politics.

"This is a reflection of what we had been telling our people about the low-level politics we inherited. We built a first-class overhead bridge, Ladoja said it was sub-standard and sent thugs to demolish its barrier to confirm his warped and unscientific claim; we beautified Ibadan, he said it was not necessary and now, he is harping on an intangible issue that does not in any way shape our people's lives," he said.

According to him, Ladoja was an authority in divisive politics aimed at setting people against themselves, with the ultimate aim of brothers baiting the blood of their fellow brothers.

"This is his aim. Oyo and Ibadan people have been living as brothers but Ladoja is not happy with that amity. His goal is to cause intra-state violence so that he can showcase his mastery of the politics of violence," he said.

Kolawole challenged Ladoja to react to the well-known allegation in the state that Ladoja, during his reign as Oyo governor, sent thugs to demolish the Awolowo statue.

"Imagine a Ladoja who was so disdainful of Papa Awolowo that he sent thugs to demolish his statue accusing an Awo-reincarnate government of being insensitive!" the release said.
