Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has enjoined Nigerians
to always be positive in their thinking so that the country can witness
socio-economic transformation.
He stated this while speaking at the 31st Holy
Ghost Convention of Christ Life Church, popularly known as the Sword of the
Spirit Ministries, at the International Conference Centre, University of
Ibadan, on Sunday.
The governor also identified attitudinal problem as the bane
of the country’s development, urging Nigerians to imbibe Godliness as a way of
life and practise whatever they preached.
He called on people to always have faith in God, desist from
sinful acts that could hinder their prayers and exhibit endurance and patience
after making their request to God.
Citing his own experience, Governor Ajimobi said ``I had made
several attempts to become the governor of Oyo State. The first time, I
contested and won but I was denied the victory. I did not give up. After several
prayers and fasting, I tried again and won, and thus became the governor’’.
The governor, who said that his mission in governance was to
ensure the rapid development of the state and to better the lots of the people,
added that he would remain resolute in achieving the aim.
While attributing the various achievements of his
administration to the support and prayers of religions leaders in the state, he
appealed to them not to relent in their prayers for the success of his
administration.
In his sermon, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian
Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye admonished Christians to be diligent in
seeking the face of God, saying that God would always reward those who seek Him
diligently and consistently.
In his remarks, the Presiding Bishop of Christ Life Church, Bishop
Francis Wale Oke commended Governor Ajimobi for the prevailing peace in the
state and the various development projects so far executed by his government.
“There is no state as peaceful as Oyo under the leadership of
Governor Ajimobi in Nigeria today. There is peaceful co-existence among all the
people and you can see developments manifesting in every nook and cranny of state.
This is commendable,’’ Bishop Oke remarked.
