- Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi of an Abuja High Court on Friday threw out the application filed by Hon Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo to dismiss the bribery allegations against them. Lawan and Emenalo are facing charges of soliciting for and accepting bribe from businessman Femi Otedola to have his company delisted from those involved in the fuel subsidy scam
.The court ruled in favour of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission which averred that the two men should be made to answer the charges brought against them. Justice Oniyangi ruled that the court had jurisdiction to hear the matter and that there has been an evidence of crime against the
defendants.
He also stated that the charges do not in any way amount to abuse of court process.The applicants’ counsel said he would have to consult his clients before any decision on whether to appeal against the judgment would be taken.
