Ladoja is Not an Hero - Oyo ACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Oyo State chapter, has upbraided the Senator Rashidi Ladoja-led Accord Party for what it called its "puerile and sensational bandying of fake state earnings" in its usual quest to earn an undeserved heroism in the minds of the people.

This was contained in a press released signed by the party  Publiciity Secretary  Dauda Kolawole  in reaction to a statement credited  to the Accord Party's Director of Publicity, Mr. Dotun Oyelade, alleging that the state government had collected N78 billion in the last one year and had yet failed to cater for the needs of teachers.

The party accused Ladoja's AP of being "a nest of liars" as the state government had already paid the 27.5 Enhanced Teachers' Salary, as well paying the minimum wage of N18,000 to the least paid worker in the state for over a year now

"We understand Ladoja's beef. His cheap mantra of being the only governor who catered for the interest of teachers while in office has been effectively punctured by Ajimobi's unrivalled impacts in the lives of teachers and the state workforce. He and his party needed to mourn their departure from the hearts of the workforce and replacement with Ajimobi who has touched the lives of the state workforce in the last two years through training and retraining, as well as taking care of their welfare," the ACN said.

The party said that while the state's earnings in the last two years were a far cry from the "fake figures" being bandied by the Accord Party, the party-led government had used its financial engineering skills to construct so many roads that are unprecedented in the history of Oyo State.

On the chieftaincy title of Aare Atunluse of Ibadanland being conferred on Ajimobi by the Olubadan of Ibadan, the ACN said Ladoja and his party should  hide their faces in shame.

"After trying unsuccessfully to cause disaffection between Ajimobi and his father, the Olubadan, by whipping sentiments on the Oyo State Traditional Council, Ladoja went a step further by attacking the urban renewal effort of the government that has attracted positive comments from all and sundry. The bestowal of this title on Ajimobi is the Olubadan's own way of telling the former governor to shut up. We are not surprised that Ladoja cannot bear the shame and has chosen the week of the chieftaincy conferment to run away to London," it said.
