Ibadan PDP gubernatorial Aspirant |
The group in statement signed by its chairman, Prince Adebayo Akande and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Ogbomoso on Monday, described the demand as undemocratic and parochial.
It said that such demand was capable of causing disaffection among people of Ibadan and other geopolitical zones in the state .
According to the group, "clamouring for Ibadan governorship without any consideration for other geo-political zones is against the democratic principle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
"This is unlike other parties that believes so much in imposition of candidates,"it said.
The group argued that the demand was the fall out of the victory rally held few weeks ago in Ibadan in where they realized the political sagacity and popularity of former Gov. Adebayo Alao-Akala above theirs.
It added that actions and utterances of some aspirants had since changed on realisation that Alao-Akala may emerge as the candidate from a free and fair primary election based on his popularity and acceptability.
The group said that all of the aspirant were eminently qualify for the position but for PDP to win the election, adding that the party needed a credible and popular candidate.

It said that Oyo state people were politically sophisticated and wise enough to determine who to govern them irrespective of where he or she comes from, whether Ibarapa, Oke-ogun, Oyo, Ogbomoso or Ibadan
