The interim national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has predicted that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not survive the wind of change coming from the APC in 2015. Akande spoke during a meeting of the party’s leaders and elders in Abuja on Wednesday .
The meeting was attended by all the stakeholders nationwide including most of the party’s governors except Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was said to be away from the country. The members of the National Assembly caucus of the party were also in attendance.
Akande, a former Osun State governor, read the riot act shortly after the meeting of the APC leaders and elders, the first of its kind since the official coming together of the opposition under one umbrella. Former head of state General Muhammadu Buhari stole the show as one speaker after the other celebrated his integrity and disciplinarian lifestyle.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Akande listed three credentials which the leadership of the APC parades: discipline, integrity and transparency.
He said, “Apart from discipline which has been demonstrated here today by over 500 leaders present, you have heard everyone speaking here paying tribute to General Buhari’s integrity; integrity is one of our hallmarks and, with this crop of leadership, nothing will stop APC from taking over from PDP come 2015.”
