Labour Party Remains Nigeria’s Only True Progressive Party - Mimiko

Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko, said Labour Party remains the only true progressive party in Nigeria committed to working for the people of Nigeria.

Mimiko who stated this at the National Executive Council meeting of the party in Abuja, said Labour party remains the party to beat in Ondo State, adding that the party will create ideological ethos for Nigeria politics. Speaking to delegates from across the country at the party’s national secretariat, Mimiko said the interest of the people will remain pivotal in the policy direction of his administration’s development initiatives.

‘’I want you to be rest assured that we remain firmly committed to the true ethos of progressive government and that we indeed are out to prove to Nigerians that Labour party remains the mansion of true progressive politics in this nation. We will continue to run government in such a way that you will remain proud of us as a party.

‘’We are conscious of our roles in history as the first Labour party government in Nigeria and I want to assure you that I will not do anything to detract from that privilege. We are out to actually create an ideological ethos for Nigerian politics. We are out to prove that in spite of the liberalized economies that is being practiced all over; in spite of globalization, there is still room for ideology in the politics of our nation. An ideology reflected in the choice you make on behalf of the people, not in terms of posturing, not in terms of all the sloganeering, we remain the true progressive party of Nigeria’’.

On the issue of merger, the Ondo State governor said, ‘’At the appropriate time we will be able to make the alliances that we need to make without detracting from the major ideological trajectory of our party’’.
