Mimiko mourns Remi Oyo
The Governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has commiserated with
the family of late Dame Oluremi Oyo, a former Managing Director of the
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and a former Special Adviser on Media, to
ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, who passed away on Thursday.
Mimiko in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, said
Oyo’s death has yet robbed the nation of another illustrious and
dutiful media practitioner, who blazed the trail and set new standard
in the media profession during her years of active service.
“It is noteworthy to recall how Oyo distinguished herself as an
exemplary presidential spokesperson, being the first female to occupy
such position in the history of this country.
“In her capacity as a public servant when she held sway as the
Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Oyo also
displayed high level of diligence and dutifulness to service.
“History and posterity will never forget her as one of those who
blazed the trail, raised the bar in media profession and set new
standard which will serve as working template for the coming
generation of media practitioners. It is my prayer that her soul find
repose in the bosom of the Lord.”
While commiserating with the deceased’s husband, her children, staff
and management of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and the media
industry, Mimiko prayed that God grant them the fortitude to bear the
irreparable loss.
