Usi -Ekiti catholic church holds commendation service for Remi Oyo By Remi Oladoye Editor , Alarinkaagbaye.com St Joseph's Catholic Church Usi- Ekiti in Ido Osi Local Government area of Ekiti state on Monday 13 October 2014 held a commendation services for the fromer Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria. Late Dame Felicia Oluremi Oyo at Usi Ekiti Oluremi Oyo who died on the 1st October 2014 was born into the Oke family of Oke Idoba House Usi Ekiti. The church priest Msgr Joseph Olusola Ojo described the late media guru as a great woman who dedicated her life to serve God and humanity through her lifetime Reading from John chapter 12 the priest " life is a voyage in which every body must walk and work pleasantly with the fear of God so as to gain heavenly home which is more precious" In a condolence message signed by the secretary of the Parish Pastoral council Olusegun Ajayi Choco said" Death has robbed us , our family, Usi community the Nation and the Universal church of Remi, who came from a family that has stood as a Stalwart in the catholic church" "Her personal contributions in raising funds for the roofing of the New church building and its completion in readiness for the Dedication at the centenary Celebrations of 19th March 2013 were immeasurable and cannot go unmentioned". " We are not only proud of her traits achievements and honours,we equally remain consoled with these testimonies that as a good actor in the church Militant, she will be accepted wholeheartedly in the triumphant church" The representatives of the Director General of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Mr Jide Adebayo said Remi Oyo was a woman of substance whose unprecedented effort in the transformation of NAN will forever be remembered Mr Adebayo who is the executive Director Marketing in Lagos office said " Remi Oyo took NAN from to a greater height with improved services for the Nation, she recruited over 800 people and established 17 districts offices across the country" " Her death is a great loss to us in NAN and we shall continued to remember her good deeds and ensure sustenance of her legacies". The Director General of the Nigeria Televison Authority, NTA, Mr Sola Omole in his condolence message delivered by Mrs Oganya Simon, the Manager NTA Ado Ekiti said " the Nigeria Media has lost one of her best who contributed immensely to the growth of media services and development in the country. He however prayed for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss Also two of the Usi community leaders Chief John Omotosho Embassy and Mr Femi Ale who also spoke during the service paid a glowing tribute to the late Dame Oluremi Oyo describingher as a true born of Usi Ekiti who is not only passionate about her community but the development of the younger generations "Chief Omotoso further maintained that She has helped so many indegenes in securing appointments and good Job and yalso contribute to the development of the community and individuals , we received her death with shocked and we will continue to miss her departure. " The duo Of Wale Ojo lanre and Mr Folorunso Oke who spoke on behalf of the family appreciated the Catholic Church for the honour and prayed to continue to support the church. " Aunty Remi Oyo's death is a great loss to the Oke Family and Usi community but we take solace in the fact that she lived a life that is worthy of emulation, several people can attest to her generosity and astuteness.
